February 26, 2010  Friday, April 9th @ 6:30pm Forest Landscaping for Whitetail Deer, Saint Rose Academy School Auditorium, Mayfield. March 20, 2010 @ 10:00 am Special Maple Syrup Tour Join us at 2 select sites for a private tour. Follow the syrup making process from tree to bottle. May 8th, 2010 @ 10am Timber Stand Improvement, Lacawac Sanctuary Robin Wildermuth, Consulting Forester, will lead us on a woods walk to educate us on an upcoming silvicultural thinning. He will also teach us how we may apply this to our own forest in a non-commercial fashion. A luncheon discussion will follow. Members of Lacawac and WLFLA are free. Non members $5. June 5, 2010 @ 10am- 2pm Wetlands tour at the Florence Shelly Preserve, Thompson, PA  Wetlands come in many forms and are protected by state and federal law. We’ll look at wetland types and learn about the plant species that help identify them. Our guides will include Paul Reining and Jamie Roche from the Wayne Conservation District and volunteers from the 357-acre Shelly preserve in this joint program with the Susquehanna Forest Landowners Association. September 11th, 2010 @ 9am - 4pm Sugar and ’sang: maple and ginseng husbandry on your forestlands, Saint Rose Academy School Auditorium, Mayfield  Morning lecture by Eric Burkhart, instructor and plant science program director for Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center, and Robert Hansen, County Extension Director and educator from Penn State. An afternoon woods walk/planting demonstration will be held at nearby Merli-Sarnoski Park. Co-sponsored with the PA Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA). November 4, 2010 @ 6:30pm Annual Meeting, Saint Rose Academy School Auditorium, Mayfield Representatives from the Delaware Highlands Conservancy & Countryside Conservancy will present things you need to know about Conservation Easements (CE) on your land.
