May 31, 2008 @ 10am-3pm Tall Timber Tree Farm Forestry Field Day and pig roast 2007 PA Outstanding Tree Farmers: Craig, Janet & Tara Olver, welcome us all. Events include: horse-logging demonstration, nuts and bolts of conservation easements, directional tree felling. Demonstration of minimal impact timber harvesting equipment. See results of 18 years of crown thinning of a 566-acre hardwood forest. PA Forestry Assoc, State Tree Farm Committee and WLFLA are sponsoring this event. RSVP to Jean Smith (570) 224-4848 by May 15. You will see a "Crown Thinning" of a hardwood forest; on site working is a grapple skidder and a landing loader/slasher; implementing the timber harvest plan and the erosion and sedimentation control plan; cutting marked timber and pulpwood.
